Question/Concerns about Mom’s DVT/PE - Is she going to live a normal life??
Hello. I’ve posted a few times in here so excuse all my posts. I’m incredibly worried about my Mom and am trying to educate myself on clots.
My Mom evidently has had a DVT growing in her left leg for a few weeks without us knowing - it goes from bottom of her calf into her thigh. Last Friday to last Monday (19th-22nd) we realized her leg was swelling like crazy so we got her to the hospital which is where they diagnosed the clot plus a handful of small PE’s (no concern by docs as there was no strain or change in vitals).
She is now on Eliquis. The swelling has went down by I’d say 90%, no more heat, no more redness, no new pain (plus old pain is almost gone), breathing fine, already back to work.
Part of me is concerned for some reason the medicine isn’t working and she’s just absurdbly nothing has broken off yet? (I tend to worry about things).
Additionally, I am slightly concerned how this will effect her life long term and her lifespan? I see numbers online like “Oh you are looking at a 40% chance of death in 10 years from a PE” plus add in other causes too and I’m like WHAT???? If you add it up it’s like a 50%+ chance before she’s 70.
Any help or input on this would be greatly appreciated. I’m just really concerned and don’t understand. Thank you
