Dealer/salesman playing trick?

I booked a VW Virtus last week on 22nd. At the time of booking the salesman told it would take 2-3 weeks to deliver the vehicle. But today suddenly, he called n said the vehicle is in transit, please pay by amount Sep 30th and close the deal. I was kind of surprised but anyway I clearly told him that payment would be done only after a satisfactory third party PDI (which he agreed to at the time of booking). If any defect i could reject the vehicle too. Called up Zeekardo guys to book the PDI. They are saying they have only one slot on 30th at around 2 pm and further said if the vehicle is in transit it's highly unlikely PDI could happen early on the day as dealer also takes their time to check the vehicle n all. I know the salesman is trying to close the deal by Sep 30 month end, so is he kind of playing some trick here. I m standing firm on no-PDI no-payment thing. Apart from this any other things I should look into n keep in mind? TIA
