16 year old working past legal employment hours

So allegedly a friend got this job when he was 16 and he worked there for about 6 months and the job was kinda shady he worked past 10pm regularly and a lot of days he would finish past midnight and even continue working from home . He was chased to finish tasks etc and this job is not part of the list of jobs which allow work past a certain time. He explained he was stressed at times due to work load but it was brushed to the side . In addition he also had a levels at the time they felt comfortable because the employer knew a family friend who helped get him the job due to their own employment . What’s his options ? Also this was a few years back but he recently thought about how messed up it was .
