Moving out in Bergen County…
Just looking for general advice. I’m a 27M full time teacher in North Jersey earning 62k looking to find a place of my own. I know everyone says stay home and save with your parents but many do not have the luxury of having a pleasant relationship with them.
Anyways, I LOVE Bergen County with all my heart, but it’s hard to see me realistically staying here. My dream is to own a condo in Fort Lee by myself, but prices are outrageous. I’m having a hard time coming to terms whether I have to live with roommates (I really want my own space) or living in a different county.
What did you do to move out? My parents keep saying I can save enough money and buy a house as long as I pay 20% in my down payment. I’d rather have a condo over an apartment so I can sell in the future for a down payment for a house. How did you budget your expenses for moving? Do I just have to accept that my monthly payments would leave me with little savings when I move out? Sorry for the rambling, just trying to set myself straight and have a plan rather than floating by.
