How to drop subframe - 3rd Gen
I’m changing the rack and pinion on 3rd gen 09. Everything is ready for subframe drop to remove the rack. I can’t figure out the precise process, and I want to be sure not to damage anything.
I know that I’ll need to loosen the front two subframe mounts and completely remove the rear two, in order to lower by 2-3 inches to get clearance. But are there any other connections or bolts to remove besides those? Some 3rd gen videos indicated there’s an electrical connection for power steering pressure, but I can’t find anything on my 09 that looks like it would need disconnecting. And then also there’s 4 bolts in the center which secure the lower engine support/mount to the subframe - do those need removal or is the whole engine supposed to drop along with the subframe?
I included a picture. In red are the subframe mounts I will be loosening. In blue is the engine mount I’m uncertain about. What else (if anything) do I need to loosen or remove besides the subframe mounts?
