TVK Karur tragedy is on us (society) - not Vijay, not DMK, not Government.
I know that everyone is trying to search for whom to blame and nobody seems to think it might be us collectively responsible for the deaths. Yes - Vijay is to be blamed for being late to meet 20k people and not worrying about the time of 20k people and also you can blame him for inadequate planning.
Govt has to be blamed that they couldn't manage the crowd properly and control the situation. And maybe you can blame DMK as well for their potential indirect participation in this incident.
But they didn't kill anyone or cause injury directly.
It's the people who ran over others who had fallen, the people who pushed their way through with no regards to causing inconveniences to others. These people had more blame to be had on them over any others. There were no police attack or some external force which made them to create a situation like that. Everyone had their free choice and majority choose to cause inconvenience and injury to others for a mere view of one person (Vijay). Basically a view of this guy seem to be more important for us (society) than being empathetic and not causing anyone any inconvenience.
My problem with the popular view of media and political parties is this - nobody even dares to speak anything against the actual murderers which is us (society). Their view is like if Vijay, TVK, Govt were negligent in planning, this is supposed to happen. But NO - I mean all our people who gathered there, don't they have free will and make choices? Can't they be more empathetic and kind to others? Can't they give enough space for each other? How come they completely have no hands on the deaths suddenly when they were the ones who pushed, ran over and injured each other?
We need to change. If we keep ignoring mirrors for our mistakes as a group, we're never going to change as a group.
