HELP. Transfer student personal statement, failed 1st year student.
Hey everyone
I could really use some advice.
Background: I wrote my personal statement back when I was first applying to uni. I’ve been at the University studying Biomedical Science, but I failed my first year. Out of my modules, 2 were failed and 1 has an accepted Extenuating Circumstances claim.
My questions:
- If I reapply to another uni , will they let me enter directly into Year 2 with those results, or will I have to restart from Year 1?
- Do I need to rewrite my personal statement to explain failing modules, or do unis just look at transcripts and decide?
- Has anyone here transferred after failing in first year what was the process like?
- I’ve seen some unis offer January 2026 intake is it possible to transfer into that, or would I have to wait until September?
I’m honestly stressed and don’t want to lose a whole year if I can avoid it. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance 🙏
