Career Changes in your 30s
Hi friends,
I’m heading into my early 30s and lately I’ve been feeling miserable at work.
- I’ve been in quality control for five years in flour milling and it just doesn’t feel like the right fit.
- Before this, I was a lab tech making $16/hr. When another job offered $7 more an hour, I took it. While I liked lab work, the hours and pay weren’t sustainable.
- I thought there would be room to grow in my current role, but I’ve been passed over for promotions twice. Now I’m not sure there’s a future here.
I have a B.S. in Biology and still love the subject, but most local jobs either pay less than what I make now or require a Master’s degree with lots of experience.
Has anyone here made a big career change in their early 30s and found something more fulfilling? I’d really appreciate any advice or encouragement.
TLDR: Feeling stuck in my job and looking for a new direction.
