Accommodating Heating Vents with Shelves?
I just bought a home that's outfitted with these type of baseboard heating vents and I'm looking for advice on how to accommodate bookshelves with these. I work from home and need to designate an office that is also a library for my field of work.
I have a 1,000+ book collection that requires nearly the entire office to be outfitted with shelves. One wall has no vents so I can use my existing shelves no problem but I'm not sure how to tackle the other two walls I want to put shelves on. I'm getting quotes from some carpenters/shelf installation companies but it seems like that could run me $10,000+ for them and we have other urgent projects to work on so if I can save money here, I'd like to.
My initial alternatives are to hang floating shelves or shelves with bars that don't touch the floor but I don't know that those maximize the storage for my books. My other thought and mainly what I'm looking for advice on is if there's anything I could try having a carpenter make that's essentially a 'step' that could go over the vent and accommodate the weight of full bookshelves on top of it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
