Job taking too long

So we are having our roughly 1800 sq ft house basement foundation redone. It was a wood foundation and is being converted to a block cement basement foundation. The work started at the beginning of June. It is now about to be October and they still have TONS of work to do.

We were told it would take at least a month and maybe up to 3 months. It will be 4 months next week.

They are also only here maybe 2-3 hours per day… sometimes they will take an entire week off….

Then originally we were told it would be 40% down, some in the middle, then the rest of the money at completion. We have been asked for money multiple times now after the initial 40% was given, and then some more in the “middle”. I don’t want to give them any more money at this point until it’s done.

What can I do to speed up this project??? I don’t think being at my house 2-3 hours only per day is good of them. It is taking forever. They still have 1.5 sides of the house left, there is piles of their stuff and dirt everywhere from areas they have completed.
