Don’t have bpd but want to understand my gf better

When my gf is having suicidal thoughts and is thinking about attempting she doesn’t tell me till it’s done and it stings cause I want to be there for her and sometimes when we bicker she thinks I hate her how do I better communicate with her with out making her feel like I hate her
