Desirable models from eu market
Hi, I‘d be happy if I can tap into your expertise on thinkpads and processor combinations as I am in the (eu-) market for a new thinkpad.
I am not entirely oblivious when it comes to hardware, but I don’t know what slightly newer intel or amd cpus are worthwhile when looking into the used market.
I own a thinkpad E480 with an i5 8250u, 8GB RAM & a dedicated Radeon RX 550 since 2018.
The casing is made from plastic and recently got a crack down the middle.
The performance starts to feel really sluggish and slow in many instances, including just using office 360 programs or just browsing with more then a couple of tabs open.
While I’m partly to blame for still using a rather old installation of Win10, I feel a somewhat newer processor and at least 16 gigs of RAM should make working a less tiring experience.
I’m looking for -notably better system performance -better build quality -battery life for like 5-6 hours on a display brightness high enough to work in lit cafes -bonus points if it can play the Witcher 3 on medium to high settings on 720p
As a student I’m looking for a bargain. But I understand that performance and some future proofing may require some spending. If I had the money I’d go for the last generations t14s with AMDs 7840u APU which has a highly regarded price/performance ration in terms of CPU/GPU power.. but those are still about 1000€ in the EU.
