Shower situation at basic/ after PT and swimming

After PT sessions I believe all showers are communal; slightly nervous but it's part of the process.. in regard to swimming do most lads take off their trunks to shower or keep them on? I don't want to be the only one to make the opposite of what everyone else does.. overthinking most likely but any advice.. plus is the lack of privacy while showering awkward between the recruits or are most guys sound about it?
