Thinking of studying Epidemiology

Hi all!

I'm planning to do a master's in epidemiology in the Netherlands, but I have some doubts.

I've heard that many people studying it come from medical side, doing it on top of their medical degree. I, myself, have a bachelor's in Biomedical Laboratory Science, and have been working as a technician in diagnostic labs, developmental biology, and translational immunology. All very wet lab based work.

I'm interested to learn more computational dats analysis and I'm really interested to also look at the bigger picture of the diseases. I love looking deep into data and find various patterns from there, but I also like working in the lab studying things.

I would really appreciate any input why or why not epidemiology might suit me, and what you love and/or hate about it. Also, what type of work does it actually offer in research if you aren't going for MD as well.

Thanks for any help! 😊
