Dead rat inside of load bearing pillar

There was a horrific smell inside of my house this morning and after a couple minutes of looking around for it it seems to be coming from a load bearing pillar in my kitchen.

I googled it because it smelled like rotten cabbage and I am 90% sure it's a rat.

What can be done about this?
