Has the crashing/freezing issue been resolved on PC yet?

I haven't played in like a month due to my PC freezing a quite a few times and have been forced to turn it completely off and on again. And after reading some reports of those same freezing issues apparently bricking some players PCs on this subreddit I decided to not play it until it has been resolved.

Has it been resolved yet? And if not, is there a way to play the game without experiencing these potentially PC breaking freezes?
