Did anyone else Nparent use their religion to inflate themself?

My Nmom constantly used her religion to inflate her ego or excuse bad things she did or whatever. The amount of times I heard “God is the perfect parent so even if I mess up it’s ok” or something like that. She also did stuff in church all for the attention but would claim she was just doing it to honor God and would drag me into stuff like that too.

I’m now religious but certainly understand why someone with a parent like this wouldn’t be. I needed people to model for me what that actually looks like. It specifically states in the Bible that love is not all the things that a narcissist is “boastful envious or insists upon itself” but sadly the culture around it feeds these types of people in even bigger monsters than they already are.
