Enough people won’t or don’t care

At first, I was going to write in the title that “most” people don’t care, but I’m not sure if that’s necessarily true. More people than we know have suffered terribly, and they keep silent on it. American society pushes the narrative that your problems are your own and that no one is coming to save you. Also, as targets of abuse by narcissists, we often were raised in abusive or neglected households ourselves, which is why the lovebombing was such an effective aphrodisiac. We had never experienced anything like that before, which explains why we fell head over heels for these people. Those who were supposed to protect us; our families, church, school, peers, instead groomed us for this role, consciously or not. And unfortunately, whether by willing apathy or not, the same people do not truly care about what happened to us. The narcissist that abused us is to them a rival, someone challenging them over their perceived control over you. That’s how they see it; we’re just objects to be manipulated, which is almost exactly as how the narcissists see us.

This isn’t meant to be doom and gloom, I have met more caring strangers than I have empathetic neighbors. Most people in my closest proximity blame me for everything that happened, and hold resentments and grudges towards me. Those I’ve met on the outside for the most part have been kind and caring, and honest without being brutal or condescending about it. There is hope out there, and we’re not alone in this. Just don’t let the negativity of those around you suck you into another well of despair, we deserve better. I hope all of you have a great week, God bless and take care of yourselves out there, you’re all doing great! Even on the bad days!
