My first Kitten
Hi everyone,
I’m finally adopting a kitten after wanting one for 3–4 years! I realized the timing will never feel “perfect,” and when I saw this little one I just knew—she’s coming home with me. She’ll be my first pet ever, and I want to give her the best life possible.
Before she gets home, what are some pointers you’d recommend? I’ve already found a great vet nearby and plan to get insurance (still deciding which one). She’s been eating Friskies Seafood Sensations, which doesn’t look too great to me—how should I go about transitioning her to a better food?
What kinds of toys should I have ready? I’m planning a deep clean to make sure there’s nothing small she could swallow, and I’ll be securing all the cables. I’m also getting her two litter boxes (not sure which litter is best yet) and plenty of scratchers. I’d love to help her get comfortable with people from early on, and possibly walks outside—any trainer or resource recommendations?
I’m also learning which things are toxic for cats so I can keep her safe. Any advice, tips, or “wish I knew this before I brought mine home” suggestions would be so appreciated. I’m very excited and trying to think of every detail, but since this is my first pet I don’t want to miss anything.
