2025 XSE Hatchback - Short elderly woman.

My MIL just got a 2025 XSE, and is unable to reach the hatchback to close it. Does anybody know of proven options to shorten the opening travel of the lift gate struts or know of replacements that can shorten the extended length over what is provided with the factory lift gate struts? Thanks! The last resort is to attach a nylon strap that can hang down for her to grab, but that isn’t ideal. Thanks!
