Botched surgery
TLDR; First stone came in November. Urgent care Dr. sucked and I let that sucker sit for eight months. ER visit shows it’s embedded. Referred to urologist and scheduled surgery. Less than two months later I’m back new Dr. says this stone is actually remnants of the surgery, still embedded.
How is that even possible?
First stone made its debut in November. I went to the urgent care and the Dr. gave me a shot and some Flomax and said it would pass. Didn’t order scans, no referral to urologist, just told me to drink lots of water. Since it was my first stone I had no idea what to expect, and so I let that sucker sit for eight months. Every three weeks or so I would feel it but it would subside after a few days.
Until June when I had to go to the ER. 9/10 pain. ER does a CT that shows a 7mm stone, and they say it’s embedded. They gave me a bunch of crap for waiting this long, but I really didn’t freaking know. They referred me to a urologist who is at a different clinic than I usually go. He sucked. He pushed me to do the surgery at a surgical center instead of the hospital, rushed me into a dozen other decisions and didn’t talk to me about aftercare at all (diet etc.).
THE STENT was the worst because it felt like having the flu for a week straight. The office was all pissy because they told me to call the day after surgery to schedule the stent to come out after one week, then on the phone call they told me I’d have to wait two weeks because EVERY DR was out of town. I gave them grief because I felt like shit and they agreed to do it at one week (guess they weren’t really out of town).
Less than two months later I’m back at my normal clinic, an urgent care I trust, and CT shows abnormal 4mm stone. Another CT with contrast tells new Dr. that stone is actually remnants of the surgery. HOW.
How could they place a stent if more than half the stone is left?!? How do they not freaking see it?? Is it possible that when they blasted it, that a chunk went into my kidney and got embedded trying to pass, again?
