HSBC Mobile AC opening

I landed in Hong Kong today and tried to open an HSBC account using just my passport, as I don’t have an HKID yet (next available appointment is only in November).

I completed the online account opening process, but at the final step, it said, “Can’t open the account. The bank will contact you for additional details within 15 days.” When I tried to reapply, it gave an error saying the application is “under process,” but I haven’t received any confirmation or application reference number.

Has anyone experienced similar issues when opening a bank account without an HKID? Should I go directly to a branch tomorrow? Waiting 15 days is not an option, as I need a bank account urgently to manage my expenses. Any advice would be appreciated.
