Post op pain and digestive issues
A bit of background story for context: I started having gallbladder attacks 15 years ago, and avoided going to the doctor for a long time. Mainly because of having no income and no insurance, but also not knowing how the medical system works. I went to the ER many times, only to wait through several hours of them doing blood tests and saying they found nothing wrong. (I didn't find out until a few years ago that gallstones only show up on CT scans.)
Fast forward to 2025. After getting abdominal CT scans and finding out there was a single calcified gallstone 3.5 cm in diameter, I finally had gallbladder surgery in March. The surgeon said it went well, and my post-op recovery wasn't too bad.
But nothing has changed with my digestive problems. I still frequently have diarrhea lasting 4 days at least and still feel sick after I eat. And I still have abdominal pain, usually it's in the front under the ribcage, on the right and left. The areas where the liver and pancreas are located.
I went back to my doctor last week and told her about this. She said we'll do another CT scan and see what's wrong.
In the meantime I wanted to ask. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
