First Timer’s Experience

I am leaving for Greece next week and figured it was a good time to invest in new luggage. I’ve used Tumi exclusively for the last 20 years (first set in 2004 and second set in 2015). I still own these and they work just fine. However I wanted to upgrade. And have been obsessed with the sticker thing and all the great pics I’ve been seeing this community post. I purchased the original check in L and cabin bags online. I don’t have a store reasonably close to me.

I travelled to DC this weekend and figured it was a great time to break in the cabin bag for a test run. Well….leaving my hotel this morning the telescopic handle continues to drop from the weight/pressure of my hand that I actually need to pull upward to keep it at the height I need and keep it from dropping further. It’s the base of the handle that connects to the suitcase that seems to be loose and not sticking. The rest of the telescopic mechanism on the upper part seems fine. I don’t care that the handle is wobbly. But it should at least stick at whichever height it’s set at, right?

I feel that I am a reasonable person and have realistic expectations. Feel free to disagree with me here.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Currently at DCA and every step I take thru the airport with this bag fills me with more regret and disappointment. I of course plan to call Rimowa tomorrow to get their advice. I’m hoping there’s a fix before I leave for Greece this Friday.
