My friends think they are neurodivergent, but I think they misunderstood the term because most of them aren't.

To start I have ADHD and OCD, so I am neurodivergent. I have 3 best friends and one of them is autistic, so she is also neurodivergent. My friends and I all have talked a lot about the neurodivergent teenage girl experience over the years. We are all nerdy and grew up as weird kids. But now that I think of it, my other 2 friends don't have ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, or anything. They do have the depression and anxiety combo, but nothing else. One of my friends constantly talks about how hard it is to be neurodivergent and how we can never get along with neurotypicals. And its kind of starting to irk me because I don't think she is. Shes not awkward at all, she doesn't have ADHD symptoms, sometimes I feel like she misses social cues but I think thats just the fact she can be self absorbed. Shes smart and doesn't have a hard time talking to people. Shes had a really hard life though, so I think she just confuses mental illness in general with having a neurodevelopmental disorder. The same goes with my other friend. I don't know its just kind of weird and I love my friends but its getting annoying because they dont realizs it and they built such an identity on being "nd" i cant even break it to them.
