It's almost intentionally sarcastic how EA use "we hear you" as their main marketing message
One of the main gripes with FC25 among players was how unresponsive dribbling was, and how defenders would catch up to any attacker, no matter how fast or nimble. The general consensus was that the game was unplayable because of this. Around TOTY they introduced a patch (that was effective for a mere week) that allowed games to be more free-flowing. We started seeing tennis scorelines but people seemed to love it.
A switch flipped. I imagine this was the pont the FC26 dev team decided "Oh y'all like that? Let us package that as FC26, and let us go ahead and take away AI defending entirely and see how much you love it."
The player base bought it instantly. Happy for a week. "They finally listened!" thought many, as with every other iteration of this franchise. Then people realized meta abusers would quickly come up with new exploits to ruin the fun. Last year, attacking difficulties led to the outside the box trivela meta. This year, attacking fluidity led to beyblade spinny spins. Both annoying in equal measures.
Instead of making a balanced game and fixing the core issues (servers, performance issues, the engine, etc.) EA will once again patiently wait until the outrage has lasted months and people would accept literally anything but this, to package FC25 again and release it as 27 to repeat the cycle.
And we will be there for the next early access.
This is as much their fault as it is ours.
