How should I approach pursuing an inexperienced guy?

I’ve been talking to someone for a short while now, and I’m getting the sense that he’s fairly inexperienced and shy. I’ve been pretty straight with him—making the first move, asking about seeing each other in person, complimenting him, initiating conversations, things like that. Despite that, he seems to be very out of his element here, and after a couple conversations I’m realizing that a lot of the “mixed signals” I thought I was getting were just him being inexperienced and nervous.

I don’t mind that he’s inexperienced and I’m happy to take it slow and be patient with him. However, at a certain point it gets difficult to tell the difference between hesitance/nervousness from inexperience and someone just not liking you. I’ve been burned before in a similar situation :/ I don’t want to be “patient” with someone who just isn’t self-aware enough to realize he has zero interest in me—or kind enough to let me and my attention go when he does realize it.
