Range test on zero hops?

My solar rooftop node is arriving soon and I’d like to test it’s range- I only have a T deck plus and a computer to connect to my rooftop node via the Meshtastic app.

My idea is to set the rooftop node to zero hops and transmit messages while the T deck is out in different areas.

I then want to test the receive range and set the T deck to zero hops and see which messages with location my rooftop node receives.

Any ideas?

Also, if you click on a node and send a message to it, does that mean direct or through hops?
