How to have ten pieces of a Longsword

I'm planning on giving a player pieces of a sword due to one of their prestige classes and I was wondering what the best way to split up a longsword would be? obviously you can separate the pommel, grip, and cross guard, but after that would it be best just to cut the blade into the 7 other pieces or is there a better way to separate it out and better terminology to use.
