Sony TCM-21 Volume Wheel

So recently acquired a Sony TCM-21 from Ebay listed as not working, so I replaced the belts and then realized crackling upon playback and eventually found out it was the volume wheel with one of the pins. Whenever the volume would be put to high it would distort making the audio impossible to hear, does anyone know how to fix it? I was thinking of getting contact cleaner but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
