Bubblegum Love
Cotton candy clouds
amid the blaze
of a cinnamon sun
waltz—
then dissolve
into a blue raspberry sky,
like the fleeting
sweet
of our bubblegum love.
A transient sugar-high—
this soda-fizz romance.
Our lips meet —
Crackle!
Our eyes lock —
Pop!
Promises effervesce…
Hiss
then fade.
Bubbles swell,
they burst,
and I drink you in
My Soda-Pop Queen.
Take the hand
of this Cherry-Jelly King
and let’s skip,
let’s prance—
just two
candy-coated hearts
wandering
chocolate-covered lands.
No sugar-frosted hills,
no candy-cane peaks,
only
our sugar-glass castle
awaits.
Melting,
sweetness spilling,
collapsing
at the edge
of gumdrop dreams.
And as the sun
meets the horizon
in a gentle
marmalade kiss,
so too
should we indulge
in the momentary bliss,
while
the strawberry-sherbet sunset
still drizzles
sweet
upon our lips.
But…
Let it stick.
Let it melt
at the tip
of forever.
And as our love effervesces—
Bubbles bursting
like fireworks
in the night sky,
I’ll savor
the final remnants—
the fleeting sweet
of this bubblegum love.
