Am I helping with my Cold Shoulder?

I usually run with cold shoulder and kaboom shotguns. while doing events I've noticed most have the Gatling plasma or laser weapons obviously more advanced but I have my cold shoulder set up for Max damage and fastest fire rate possible this way I get as many shots in as I can and hopefully any of the bigger bosses get slowed down with the freeze effect for the team. my question being for those higher level is this a helpful strategy or am I delusional
