Moving P Bass Pickup location

I'm building a bass and would like to have a Music Man pickup and a P-Bass pickup. In order to add both of these pickups in their correct position, they overlap slightly. In every post I have found on this and other subreddits, it is always suggested to move the MM pickup toward the bridge, similar to the PJ bass configuration.

I would like the MM pickup in it's original sweet spot and am considering moving the PB pickup about 1 inch toward the neck.

How would moving the PB pickup an inch toward the neck change the sound? Is there a reason I don't see this done more often? Thanks in advance for the help!
