Pet owners, is it cruel?

I live on a tight budget. I don’t eat out, go to movies, shop at Kohls or Target for clothing, food at Aldi. Having a home that smells great is my weakness. But, after reading about the impact of scented candles on pets, I think it’s over. The only safe candles are beeswax and unscented. I have three dogs. It doesn’t seem right to continue. My vet confirmed that scented candles have a negative consequence on household pets. Anyone else out there feeling the same?
