Cops "Don't do that anymore"

WTF

A family friend's 22ish yr old daughter's (we'll call her Sara) was t-boned on Tidewater Dr, near Colonial Heights mid afternoon a couple weeks ago. (She's OK, shaken up and naturally sore, but thankfully OK)

The t-boner, backed up and drove off.

Sara, obviously very shaken up, calls 911, they ask if she's OK, the basics of what happened, are informed it's a hit and run. She asks if someone is coming to help her and they say "We don't do that anymore." She's confused, tries to get clarification and is told "We don't respond unless someone is hurt."

WTF?!

Anyone experience similar? or familiar with some new procedures at NPD where they "don't do that anymore" when they get a traffic accident call?

I 100% believe the story because I know the people involved, but I'm shocked and not just a little dismayed that the police never responded, just left that poor girl on her own.

Of course she called her parents who came and directed traffic around the smashed car until the tow truck arrived. Her mom is conducting her own investigation and found the hit and run driver. Waiting for next installment of gossip to find out what happened next.

SIDE NOTE: Some people who drove by the accident yelled at them, flipped them off, honked and were incredibly mean and rude. They didn't wreck the car on purpose FFS!

REMINDER - be kind to people who cause traffic jams, they don't want to be there.
