Political violence is much less bad when it doesn't target the other side

Political

The loss of life/injury are still just as bad, but the impact on the rising tide of violence and polarization is much, much less when it's involving an actor who targets someone from a different faction of his side. When factions of the same side fight, they tend to always have access to mediation within their broader movement or side. Things will tend to cool down this way.

When you target someone who isn't on your side, the communication efforts for peace following that event are going to be challenging, to say the least.

With that being said, I think this Mormon church shooter will prove to have had serious PTSD or other mental illness because that's how I see it pointing. But I still wanted to point this out.
