Recently diagnosed, had a question about symptoms.

Question about OCD and mental illness

Was recently diagnosed by my psychiatrist (within the last week or so). He had asked me to go home and talk about my behaviors with my wife to try and see if there was any obsessions/compulsions I may have missed in my self-report.

One thing that came up with my wife was that I have a tendency to repeat questions, or statements, in an attempt to get a “just right” response. It’s for nonsense stuff too. Like, trying to get this person to agree with my comment about grizzly bears in the exact right way. They could be agreeing with me totally, but, because it’s not “just so,” I have to keep trying. I also couldn’t even tell you in the moment what the response I’m hoping for is, it’s one of those you kind of know it when you feel it type deals. But I do it all the time. Completely unknowingly — until now.

Is this a symptom anyone else has experienced or would also associate with OCD?

I’m obviously going to consult my psych doctor when I meet next but I was curious what you all thought.
