I'm looking for some opinions on this piece. I have a number of squash blossoms, but this one is kind of different.

It has a dark patina, in some areas it looks like the original patina has chipped/worn off and the metal shows through, but even those areas have an old tarnish look. If this really old, or could this be an artificial look? Of was this just exposed to extreme conditions?

It is strewn on some king of brown fabric cord; the cord looks to contain plastic such as nylon since the end is melted. I do not know if it has been re-strung.

It has some unusual design elements, such as having plain bezel set stones in the front, and blossoms in the back. The blossoms and part of the Naja have a wire wrapping technique I have not seen in other squash blossoms.

One of the two cones near the clasp is stamped "D G" and also "5 - 8 2". There is also a small "sterling" stamp on the same cone. The cones are very handmade looking. It is my understanding that the "sterling" mark may have been used as early as the 1930's, but was not widely used until the 1950's-60's.
