Experiences Seeking Diagnosis for Endometriosis, Migraine, POTS/Dysautonomia, PMDD, MCAS in Ireland - Research Study
Hi, I'm Jenny Cooney-Quane a women's health researcher in the School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork, Ireland and I'm carrying out a study exploring women's experiences seeking diagnosis in Ireland for chronic conditions- endometriosis, migraine, POTS/dysautonomia, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), health conditions that disproportionately affect women, that frequently have long diagnostic delays, and often have a lack of qualified health professionals for diagnosing and managing these conditions.
The focus of the study is women's experiences seeking diagnosis, for example length to diagnosis, and medical gaslighting (such as symptom invalidation, minimisation, normalisation, and diagnostic overshadowing). The study will also look at women's use of symptom tracking apps, and how their health care providers respond to this app data, such as integrating it into clinical decision making.
The eligibility criteria are:
-Endometriosis, Migraine, POTS/dysautonomia, PMDD, and/or MCAS Diagnosis
-Female, Non-binary or Trans
-Age 18+
-Sought Diagnosis in Ireland (however you may ultimately have received your diagnosis in another country)
-Used symptom-tracking apps or other methods (e.g. symptom diary/notebook) to track your symptoms
Whats involved?

*total time will depend on how many health conditions you have
