False Oasis
The barren desert is of the most hostile nature: shards of sand swiftly slice through the sultry air, faux serenity soils the mind of those foolish enough to wander the desert, and the unearthly heat melts the waxy skin off any living creature.
However, a strange structure defies this absolute threat of an environment, a simple structure of glass, overflowing with the swirling sensation of nature, thriving plants spread from wall to wall, ceiling to floor, with little-to-no space remaining. The humble house stands modest in the blindly hot dunes of time, with every molecule of sand bouncing off of the smooth and steaming glass.
Despite the deserts dry and perilous heat, the interior of the house slowly fills with an overwhelming abundance of life, with enough water to flood the nearby valleys, and more than enough plants to feed the little life remaining outside the welcoming walls.
The many victims of the sands claw and beg for the sanctuary of the humble structure, however the structure pays them no mind, as they starve at its foggy windows. The corpses of the naive and desperate surround the structure, warning all of the carelessness and emotional ignorance the structure holds towards them, but a great number of corpses are constantly compiled, as they believe they can convince the unmoving house to let them in.
The house has no door, and no souls will ever enter. Despite this simple fact, the small bodies around the house soon become overwhelming, blocking the windows and soon even the blistering sun cannot be seen. Soon after this buildup, the little remaining sunlight visible through the cracks and wrinkles of skin and bone becomes to little to feed the plants inside, as they slowly suffocate and starve.
The tale of the structure is soon forgotten, as the hundreds of victims erode and disperse into the sands that killed them, and the once lively house of hope and despair is revealed little more than a shell of its former self, soon appearing just as pessimistic and doomed as the very world it once so greatly contrasted; the very contrast that ultimately lead to its unfortunate fate.
