Question about applying as a Linguistics and Computer Science major at UCLA
I am apart of the honors program at my community college and so I plan to apply to UCLA with Computer Science as my major and with Linguistics and Computer Science as my alternate major. However, I noticed that for the requirements on assist it mentioned "One year of college level coursework in the declared language OR At least one year of high school in which the primary language of instruction was the declared language." As well as the recommendation to take a linguistics introductory course. My cc doesnt have any linguistic courses that articulate over so I am planning to take one at a different community college which I am fine with. But if I did four years of a foreign language (Spanish) in high school do I still have to do a year of a foreign language at college? Or would the only way I could potentially get out of it be to take the placement exam at UCLA? And if I were to wait to do the placement exam would it lead to me being seen as a less competitive applicant? Sorry for the barrage of questions and any weird formatting that may come from being on mobile.
