DHSC and NHS have confirmed they have literally no idea how much private GLP-1 use benefits the government and country
I did a request to the Department of Health and Social Care under FOI and they confirmed that they hold no information, analysis report or even discussions on the impact on the NHS or government on private use of Mounjaro and other such medicines. This includes monetary benefits as well as the wider societal/health benefits.
If you ever wonder why the government are moving so slowly on rolling out NHS prescriptions for these medicines, then understand that they literally have no idea how the current private prescriptions are affecting...anything, at all. They haven't even looked into it. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
(I also did a request to NHS England, but they responded by saying this would be held by DHSC if it existed).
