What’s that one synth noise I always heard?

Hey,

Sorry if this is an odd post in any way as I’m new here but been listening to hip hop of every kind my whole life. There’s this one noise I’ve always heard and I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of what it’s called, or what its history is.

Wish I had a better song as an example of it rn but my mind’s gone blank - but the beat for Rottweiler by EsDeeKid features it heavily at the start. It’s that kind of metallic synth ‘ping, ping ping’ thing.

Feel like I’ve heard it a lot in like older memphis and dirty south style beats? But I might be imagining that as I’m overthinking it rn. And now it’s being used a lot in the ‘underground’ style beats coming out lately. Does it have a name? What are some other songs that feature it as I know there are tonnes, I don’t like the EsDeeKid track much but I do absolutely love this one noise!

If this is nonsense then no worries haha , thanks!
