What does the red quill do?? (Act || spoilers)

So I was doing a thing where I wanted to get the full map without the quill and then get it afterwards and see the difference between the two so i didnt buy Shakras quill. Then I was going to the one fancy dudes fight in the citadel and got a red one. What does it mean/do??? Im a bit confused and a little sad because I lost my original goal lmao. I imagine its just a cool little detail?
