Persistent dull pain in left upper abdomen for 3 months despite normal tests (female, 34, on Eliquis after pulmonary embolism)

Hello, my girlfriend had a pulmonary embolism 3 months ago and has been taking Eliquis since then. So far so good. However, for the past 3 months she has also had a dull “pain” in the left upper abdomen, just under the ribs.

She’s had two ultrasounds – both unremarkable. Her blood values, which are being monitored closely anyway, are very good. What was observed, though, was a lot of air in the abdomen.

She has already tried Lefax, Espumisan, gut treatments, physiotherapy, massages, and light exercise. None of that has helped the air go away — at best only very slightly.

She still continues to have “pain,” and it’s driving her crazy. The doctors don’t know what else to do. Three different general practitioners as well as two specialists have so far found nothing. We are completely desperate, because the pain has even triggered panic attacks. She is doing meditation and exercises to help her stay calm.

With light touch, the skin in that area is very sensitive. The skin itself is not red. She says it feels as if there’s a blockage there — as if something is obstructed.

She has no stomach problems, no cramps, and no diarrhea. Everything else is normal.

An abdominal CT is scheduled soon. However, the upper abdomen was already evaluated as unremarkable in the CT scan done during the pulmonary embolism diagnosis.

Can anyone here help? She can’t take it anymore… She is 34 years old, has never smoked, doesn’t drink alcohol at all, and is normally active.
