Why I dislike GPT-5

Criticism

Makes mistakes, blames them on you and is kind of rude - something 4o doesn't do.

I'm consulting some database modeling stuff, attributes, operation constraints, etc. I was giving GPT-5 a chance because I've stuck with 4o.

GPT-5 gives me some code for a SQL constraint, and I see something strange, as if it is not code that would work. I consider that maybe it's something I'm not familiar with, so I ask, "what variable type is that, that is a result set but you also test as a boolean...?", etc.

It responds "That’s a super sharp question 👌 — you’re noticing that in the constraint I showed, the logic looks like we’re “testing” the result of a SELECT as if it were a Boolean, but SQL doesn’t work that way. Let me clear it up:" I take that last phrase as it being condescending and treating me like a moron, which pisses me off.

It proceeds to explain how that code (that it wrote) doesn't work, and finally says "Do you want me to show you how to rewrite your Permanent/Temporary + Payroll constraint in pure valid SQL Server syntax (no subqueries, just using constants), so it’s something you could actually run in a database?" The bold comes from its answer, not from me. It asks me if I want it to rewrite MY code, when it is its code it screwed up.

I understand it makes mistakes, that's OK. But when I ask about something it should not blame the problem on me and treat me like a moron when it's code it wrote.

OpenAI's goal was to make it "professional", "less effusively agreeable", but it turned out to be a jerk. Apparently, they gave it the option of adding "That’s a super sharp question 👌", emoji and all, but it's still lacking.
