Possibilities of moving to the USA permanently
Hi everyone,
I’m 22 M (turning 23 soon) from Ireland and I’ve always wanted to live in the US. I know it’s not easy, but I’m just trying to figure out what’s actually possible for someone like me.
A bit about me: I’ve got Asperger’s, I never finished secondary school (high school in US terms), so I don’t have any qualifications. I also haven’t worked a job yet, but of course I would if I was living in the US. Because of my school situation, I can’t enter the Diversity Visa Lottery either.
From what I’ve read, most of the common ways to move — like family sponsorship, marriage, studying, or work visas — don’t really fit my situation right now. Work visas also seem impossible since I don’t have qualifications or experience.
Has anyone been in a similar spot — starting from basically nothing — and still managed to move permanently? Did you build up skills or education at home first, or find another way?
I’d really appreciate any honest advice or stories from people who’ve done something similar. Thanks a lot!
