hot take: Fortnite isn’t dying. Friend groups are.

I noticed Fortnite’s player count is dropping, but I wonder if that’s because of the game updates or because players don’t have anyone to play with. I used to play with my cousin and a good friend I met online through Fortnite. We played together for about three years, and then I got the news that my closest friend, the one I talked to every day, had passed away. After that, everything went dark. My cousin stopped playing, and I started spending every night sitting in an empty Discord server, hoping someone would join.

I feel like this is a concern for many players. Maybe not with the same story, but for a lot of us, having people to play with really makes or breaks whether we keep playing Fortnite.
