I *love* this game.. 85 hours in, but...
Listen, I'm perfectly open to being humbled for this potentially unpopular opinion. I've played Borderlands since the beginning, so I'm not a newb to the franchise at all, but at the same time I don't necessarily remember how it was in Borderlands or Borderlands 2 (though I have deep nostalgia for 2).
With that said, I really struggle sometimes with whatever logic set controls the spawning of loot in this game. It seems like 75% of the loot I pick up, I pick up as junk. Because it's good to sell. But I feel like I remember feeling much more excitement for good loot whenever I beat a boss or battle through a slog of enemies in a camp to find that glorious chest at the end. Felt like I found good stuff that made it feel worth the effort of managing to make it through wave after wave.
Now? Maybe two out of every ten or so confrontations (whether its five enemies until they're all dead or thirty) end up in decent loot that I can refresh my loadout with. The loadout I have now has been the same for about fifteen hours. Jakobs sniper rifle at 2.4k DPS/4.4k damage. Order AR at 7.7k DPS and 1.3k damage. Jakobs Shotgun at 4.7k DPS and 8k damage. Did I just bottleneck myself by getting these weapons that are so good I don't want to replace them with anything less?
And there's *so* many class mods that spawn and most of them aren't even for the character I'm playing as! I can't tell you how many Siren or Forgeknight mods I've picked up as junk in the 85 hours I've played.
I still love this game and I probably have a good twenty hours left out of it before I move on and finish it. But Christ it's annoying sometimes.
