Ambedkar's India

News & Reviews

Read over couple of months, this book contains 3 Essays.
1.  The Grammar of Anarchy

Loved how he acknowledges that more than the constitution the enforcers & followers determine the efficiency of the constitution and that thought process that the decisions taken are based on the ideals of his time & we the people can amend the laws according to our times on the agreement of the majority.

2.  Annihilation of Caste
The best of the lot. Clearly explains the multi directional views of the freedom fighters. The level of clarity & self-examination by Ambedkar is exemplary. Loved the way of how approaches each facet of casteism item by item and tackling many counter arguments which he must have thought himself or came across while debating others. I slightly disagree that brahmins will not join the revolution of burning castes/religion, coz any individual even from the oppressing class member will be capable of empathizing with the people who are exploited. Though as a society the annihilation of caste or creating a new doctrine for Hindus is an impossible task for the near future.

  1. Castes in India: Their Mechanism, Genesis and Development

Delves into theory of how caste was born & developed its roots throughout India.
